Never ending Soap!!!!

I kid u not, my life is a never ending Soap opera...but then again, whose isn't...right? Well here goes mines... I am Preggers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes i am 19 weeks pregnant for the man i lurrrrve :). R we married ?... hell no. If your asking why, the truth is we are not ready. I love him and know in my heart i am going to spend the rest of my life with this knuckle head... so basically no rush down the aisle. Besides, i am totally against getting married because of an illegal pregnancy ... lol all pregnancies are legal in my "think-outside-of-the-box"mind .

By the way, if no one told u before ...Pregnancy is soooooooooooo overrated. I feel like a big moody gas bubble , my poor child's father ( a.k.a baby daddy) is soooo tolerant... to be fair he shud be after all he DID THIS!!!... ok, i might have played a tiny role, emphasis on tiny lol.

Anywho, since all i can do is sit at home and be an incubator of Gods precious gift :)... looks like i'm gonna be back on the blogging scene- writing, stalking - basically turning back into the blog whore i once was ... LUVIN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until my next update :D xoxo

Where has the time gone?

Wow... how long has it been , don't even answer that cus it has been an eternity. Did i miss blogging?... Heck yah, like tres mucho. To be honest, the only reason I'm blogging right now is because i don't want to pack and i am trying to escape the feeling of clutter by visiting my very empty abode ( blogspot).

I am off to 9ja in a few weeks ...yippie...4 good ...double yippee!!!!. Well technically, i should be ...BUT... i have not bought my ticket yet , i intend on doing that this week ( if only i can find one less the $2000). I have sold my car , yes Ester is going to her new home this Friday *tear*. This week is my last week at work , and my apartment has received my 30 day notice ... so it is tres official that i am outta here, preferably before Christmas.

This year has been a fantaboulus year, i had the best and the worst experiences in one year that i have ever had in all the years of my life... trust all of it will definitely last me a lifetime. I made some cool new friends, some cool fake friends, some acquaintance ,and more importantly , I became friends with myself ...which is honestly the bestest friend i could have made this year :).

I did some crazy ass shit this year , that i probably will never do again but sure had mad fun doing... have i ever mentioned i don't do things i know I'll regret...except I'm drunk lol , and even then we can blame it on the liquor or the devil :)... whatever, people shouldn't be judging others anyway.

I don't know if moving home is such a super idea, but i know it is the right idea "Right Now"...whatever happens after that atleast i'll have fun experiencing it right :)... no regrets.

On a random note, but equally as important as my rantings... I am launching my retail store ...YIPPEE!!!!! Yes blogville, you are officially the first non-personal or should i say faceless friends to know that yours truly has been a busy bee ... technically, i don't have a store and if my idea works , i will not need a store... oh yeah, your girls been dreaming big but big dreams need big funding , so fingers crossed ... i'll let you all know in a week.

Ok, I have procrastinated enough and sadly i must return to packing . i had a nice time writing as always... feels good to be cyber home .

MY LAST POST!!! Miss Nigeria In America- My Scoop!!!

Yes everyone, This is going to be my last post as Nigerican... i made this decision a while ago, but i still continued to blog despite how i was beginning to feel. I started blogging not because it was the "in" thing, but because i had a lot to say and i enjoy writing . After reviewing numerous blogs , it seems to me that next to being a make-up artist in 9ja or some kind of celebrity, being a blogger is next in line. If u've read my blog from the get, then u know i hate overrated sturvs and can't be bothered ... so i am proper giving up the blogworld , well not entirely... i'll still come for my occasional fix, but anything else - I no dey do again. Ok , that was a whole lot of grammar , onto my post.

MNIA 2008

The Journey to LA

After only getting one hour of sleep, me and my girl hit the road on our 5 hour drive to Los Angeles , where the pageant would be taking place. The ride was soooo long and very tiring , especially since my A.c isn't working ( don't judge me ) .

By the time we reached L.A , we where as hot as a Christmas goats with a sudden outbreak of malaria before being executed. We checked into our hotel ( The Manhattan Beach Marriott) and proceeded to freshen up. Mind you , we where 5 Nigerian girls... 2 very sweaty and 3 very hungry... needless to say, there was an urgency to shower quickly and feed promptly before getting ready for any show.

At 5:40pm, our program coordinator began rushing us to finish getting ready, because the show was "scheduled" to start at 6pm.

The Show

We arrived at the Redondo Beach Performing arts Center @ 6:05pm and the show began at 7:30pm...not 6pm. For a Nigerian event, i was rather impressed as i did expect a 3 hour delay... so Bravo for not letting us wait for 3 hours.

The show began with us singing the National Anthems... which i felt was very appropriate for opening any event.

Next was an opening number by the delegates, which was rather good and very entertaining... even gave me goosebumps. After the delegates exited the stage, Kenneth Emerson ( Founder and organizer of the Pageant) came on stage to apologize for their tardiness and remind us of our purpose this evening. He introduced the judges and then via a screen introduced our hosts for the night.

... let me just say,The introduction of the hosts kinda caught the whole audience off guard... and i'll explain. Without any real warning, a screen starts descending from the heavens and clips from Hollywood movies begin to show... @ first we where all like WTF, what does this have to do with the pageant... but after a good 10mins, u realize the clips are only focusing on two stars ... Flash back to Kenneth saying our hosts are str8 from Hollywood ... and viola , my brain told me these were our host... Ebbe Bassey and Sammi Rotibi.
OMG , I must say Ebbe Bassey stole that whole show... she was funny, smart, and beautiful... infact she was awesome. Mr. Rotibi was not so bad himself ... he is cute, somewhat funny... but whoever picked out his shoes needs to be sacked ... the guy had on one proper suit ( he looked goood) and then some unflattering shoes.
Anywho , back to the show. All the delegates were very beautiful and charming. They all looked hot in their outfits, except for a couple that kinda fell a tad bit off ( i won't call states cus i don't believe in knocking individuals who try... but if u where there, then u saw the few).
When it came to talent , i must be honest and says some of the contestants blew the audience away and others left the audience with jaws dropped in disbelief.
The piano playing by Miss Abuja was great, The Poetry by Miss Imo was moving, The dance by Miss Enugu gave me goosebumps. I don't want to point any performance out as bad but lets just say when the were bad they were awful and painful. At a point i felt very bad for the girls , because the audience was hardcore. The chick behind us must have given every contestant a nickname, and some random dude kept yelling out some rather razz commentary, not to mention the inappropriate laughing from the crowd... but i guess that's 9ja for us ( still very unacceptable).
The time came for questions & answers, and i braced myself, cus public speaking is hard anyday. I must be honest here and say, i was rather disappointed in how most of the delegates didn't answer their questions in entirety or correctly. Infact the only person i can recall was Miss Akwa Ibom... her question was " what qualities do u think a good leader should posses"... that babe hit the answer on the head , but because of her pronunciation, the audience kept interrupting with laughter...too bad i didn't have enuff balls to stand up and shout "SHUT UP!!!", but Sammie Rotibi did , and he asked the audience to be considerate of the contestants... nice one Sam.
The final 5 were picked , and all the girls i expected to be there were there... Miss Kaduna, Enugu, Imo, Oyo, and Adamawa... all very beautiful girls. These 5 , had their own set of questions and answers . History repeated itself yet again( in less than 5 mins), but this time Miss Enugu was the only one who answered the question properly and she was awesome. I believe the audience was sure she would be the winner.
THE WINNER
After a couple of jokes from our host, the crowd was kinda ready to know the winner so we could proceed to the after parry. To cut a long story short , there was an outburst in the audience because the person we all expected to win didn't. Trust Nigerians, i don't even know what word to use to describe our people oh... they proper started to walk out of the hall. I am soooo glad the new queen ( Ronke) was too over joyed to even notice... u go girl, u did a great job.
The After Parry
To be honest, i was very stoked about the whole after parry. However, since i had only had an hour of sleep, drove 5 hours , and just sat thru a whole pageant any little thing wud piss me off. Lets just say a couple of things upset us (the girls and I), so after 3mins of deciding wether or not to even go in, we got back in the vehicle and drove to our hotel for some wine and a goodnites sleep.
In Conclusion
If you are a Nigerian and reside in America, you have to attend atleast one of these pageants. It was a very refreshing experience. It is also something different to attend with friends. It was a good event.
I give it to those babes, for having a whole lot of courage. They all did a fabulous job and r all Miss Nigerians in America to me... and their families of course.
I can't wait to see more of Ebbe Bassey... she rocks!!!!.
That's a wrap from Nigerican and her Soap opera. The Soap continues , but without my cyber haven... Love u blogville ... ciao *wink* ... wish u all your hearts desires.

SELF TALK 101... back to the basics

I am ME and i am proud of who i am.
God has a greater plan for me and i need to stop interfering with him.
I will no longer compare myself to others ...Y? Because i am me of course and not them.
I will no longer surround myself with negative people and energy.
I will no longer be upset that they are both married , after all i wasn't serious then and they are both great men.
I will make my relationship with God much stronger, i now know he is the navigation system i seek.
I will get my priorities str8... right after i purchase those hot shoes for MNIA( i swear, i will).
I will no longer allow people to influence my decisions
Not everyone is meant to be a business owner, sometimes we are content as workers...as long as we r doing something we love... i wanna do something i LOVE.

I am GOING to do something i love... and if i change my mind, that's my own damn business ...so tired of trying to please everyone.

I will enjoy the rest of 2008, regardless of any unforeseen circumstance

Trends are sooooooooo overrated, and i am done following them. With that said, no more celeb editions... there is enough bad/good celeb coverage on the net or should i say blogville .

I will continue to blog about peeps i feel are not always seen on the scene that deserve ubber props and recognition.

Kini big deal ? I'm done for the night .

Hey blogville, hope everyone's having a fab week and enjoying the Olympics... looks like the States are kickin ass and taking names lol... the Chinese are not to far behind in the gold medal gathering ceremony either.

Anyway in reality, i don't care too much for the games just the male swimming( hot bods) and female gymnastics (very inspiring) ... everything else is sooo whatever.

So back to my celebrity editions; the way my editions are *suppose* to work is in this order-

......BUT!!!!! since its me, and I'm enjoying blogging about my cool summer interviews, I'm gonna go ahead and put my next cool person up. Enjoy!!!!

This lady needs no introduction whatsoever, her journey and accomplishments thus far says everything about her...or so we think. Here's my exclusive writeup on Ms. Toyson :).

tosynbucknor

Tosyn Bucknor- Writer, Entertainer , and Founder of The non-profit organization

“These Genes”.

A graduate from the University of Lagos, where she studied law before heading to law school, Tosyn is a lady with a big heart and an even bigger mission. As a person living with Sickle cell, she knew the importance of making it a disorder people talked about instead of being ashamed of. Through her foundation, people are encouraged to learn about the ailment , donate to the various projects , spread the word, and lastly Volunteer .

Tosyn is very honest, and shares with moi that “ running a non-profit project involves dealing with human beings, which means dealing with egos, feelings, emotions and every other thing that comes with it” ,...all this and she still optimistically says it is an opportunity for her to learn about people.

This year, These Genes will be shooting a documentary to show the daily lives of individuals with sickle-cell ,a show that promises to be educational and a great eye opener for many.

A celebrity auction Fundraiser is also in the works in the near future … lets just say celebrities , like Ebuka from Big brother Nigeria might be up for grabs.

Regardless of all her projects ( Documentary, Fundraising for the cause) Tosyn still finds time to do the things she loves , such as : spending time with the family, meeting new people on her very own s.h.a.r.e network ( a site she created for anyone who wants to mingle and network), writing for her ‘Strictly for the Young’ section in the Sunday Guardian , or bellowing out some melodies as her alter ego CON.tra.diction.

If you ask me , this amazing lady is just getting started. She acknowledges the need for her organization to branch out to other parts of Africa, as sickle-cell is rampant on our continent… but first she says “Our first expansion will have to be to other states in Nigeria”.

Bon chance Miss Tosyn , we are rooting for you.

Fun Facts: Tosyn Bucknors 2 fav quotes :) ...

  • "We only live once. If we live well, once is enough!"

  • 'If I live my life according to their pace, what is my prize in life's meaningless race?' - that's her personal quote.

Check out some of Tosyn's websites to learn more about her, or to make a contribution to "These Genes"... remember every lil bit helps :) :

Celebrity Edition III- The Introduction of Ms. Ebi - CEO Inden Web design & development

Are you guys tired of seeing the same celeb faces over and over again? ...well i sure am.

Don't get me wrong, i give onto Cesar what belongs to him... but ... i also know there are way too many Cesar's out there, for us to keep focusing on a select handful.

I personally enjoy chatting with the Cesar's , who are like you and I... you know, your everyday Joe or Joan. The ones that are behind the scenes achieving greatness beyond our imagination. I love putting the limelight on them, because you always learn awesome new things from them or about them. Ok now that i have said all that, i can begin my proper post :)

Nigerians have been on the scene for years in every industry you can think of , but recently we got tired of simply being there and now we are taking over big time. I had the opportunity to interview 5 young , successful, and talented Nigerians ranging from diverse careers and backgrounds. They all had a ton of goals, but the one which kept being reiterated was " to better Nigeria ( of course) and to change the perceptions of our great Nation" .

These individuals, were bold enough to go down a different path in order to make their dreams a reality. All motivated by different reasons but driven by the same thing… Passion!!!!

Allow me to introduce my FIRST!!!!

ebi

Miss Ebi Atawodi- CEO Inden Web design & development

This 21 year old Masters graduate from the Imperial College of London , began her company back in 2003 at the age of seventeen. By 2005, she had registered the Nigerian arm of her business and pretty much compressed the design market. Specializing in Print design ( billboards, POS) , New media design( 2d animation , web design), and Identity ( Brand identity , logo design) , this young lady means graphic business.
Gone are the days when she was 11 years old, creating DIY web sites with editing problems. She began her venture with a few acquaintances who were starting up businesses, by constructing their web design work , business cards, and leaflets . Her demand got so high , people started offering money to get on her priority list... and the rest is history.
In 2008 , Ebi setup the first Apple computer center in Abuja out of her love for all things Mac. She is quite impressed with the response rates and only wishes people “ accept the relatively higher price tags…”.

With all her projects, this little lady still has room for one more… a self publicized book, titled “ Nigerians behind the lenses”. With the aim of informing , inspiring , and being innovative , this book on Nigerian photography (who's proceeds are set to be donated to a non-profit )might just be one more of her many master pieces. The sky as her limit is a complete understatement... cus to me, she has already gone beyond those limits. Nigerican is rooting for you... TEAM EBI!!!
